our 18 week old & a big CONGRATS!

Well, 18 weeks have come & gone.
Huxley gets bigger by the minute & never stops wiggling, moving, exploring, giggling.
He's just the best.
This weekend we got all spiffied up for our friend's Eric & Kristen's wedding! They are such amazing people & make a beautiful couple! I met them through, you might have guessed it--- Starbucks!
Hux loves hanging with Kristen when the Mama's at work & we are so blessed to have them in our lives.

[the gorgeous glowing bride & the Hux.]

Congratulations Eric & Kristen!

tubby time.

Hux loves it.
Especially in his European Wash Pod.
He's loved it since day one & still really enjoys how it cradles him in there with enough room to splash around. Mama likes it since there isn't Lake Huxley on the floor after bath time & cleaning it is a breeze---and it's far quicker sanitizing his tub as opposed to our big one.

& they're super affordable too...hands down a must have in your baby arsenal!

[sorry about the so-so photo quality...one day I'll own my dream camera...one day.]

Firsts Everywhere!!

I had to pull out Huxley's Baby Book lastnight & really lay down some ink.

He has SO many first accomplishments to log, especially his first taste of big people food!

It's kind of a tradition in our family to let the teething babies gnaw on a cleaned off rib bone, and so, Huxley had his initiation with Grandpa followed by a few first bites of organic rice cereal mixed with boobie milk.

Yummmy num nums.

Four Months & Feelin' Fine.

Huxley Otis is a little over 16 weeks young, but everyone who's met him agrees he has an old soul.

Huxie's been on so many adventures as of late & so many milestones have gone down in the books.

He can roll from his tummy to back, and last week while in Michigan visiting the Grandparents he rolled from his back to his tummy!!

Hux LOVES exercise time with Grandma, which involves a lot of standing up & crunches.
(our child's got 6-pack abs it's ridiculous!)

His new favorite thing is grabbing ahold of his bottle, bringing it to his mouth & feeding himself all on his own. It cracks us up. Seriously. He is a comic.

We're continuously blessed with such a sweet, snuggly, active & alert little boy.

He brings us joy by the handful.

Going Home.

In these few short days we've been near the shores of Lake Michigan Huxley Otis has grown.

I'm convinced it's all the fresh air, pure water, and love love love he's been groovin' off of, but my theories aside, this little baby's blooming into quite the little boy.

Going on this Big Adventure has meant a lot to Mama, since I once lived off Wanderlust & wanton wishes, moving whenever the urge struck me and not caring what tomorrow may bring.

There is just something about packing your bags & moving that really makes you feel alive, ya know?

I had a few years of my life where I sort of lost the concept of home, I lived out of a tent & my car, that's not a home, my parent's house was my parent's house, not my home. It wasn't until I met Matt that my heart remembered what & where home is...
Huxley's definitely shown signs of missing home, because that's where Daddy is, and he is our heart.

He is our home.

& so, we are packing up our bags and beginning the long drive back...yet another adventure is on our horizon to add to the books.

(I have no clue who taught Hux to give the Bird...)

I am a Mom.

Coming back to visit the place where I was born & raised with my son has blown my mind.

As I drove the back roads I once cruised alone, music turned up real loud, no care in the world, I smiled as that all faded away with the backseat now harboring my sleeping baby.

As I laid on the floor playing with Hux, laughing and cooing as my Mom watches in approval my heart swelled.

As I sat across the table from my Grandmother, nursing Huxley, it was all I could do to keep from crying & I could see in her eyes she felt the same.

She mothered my Mother who mothered me and now I am a Mom.

I am a Mom.

That word still rolls awkwardly around my mouth when I speak of myself having that highly regarded title.

God blessed me with such a role.

A Mother.

Me.

& I can only hope to become half the Mother mine has been.

Happy Mama's Day, all you marvelous, amazing, women.

a little Michigan celebration of 16 weeks with the Hux!

Huxley already had a busy day full of festivities before I finally got around to shoot these photos, but I feel they really capture the essence of his developing personality, which is nothing short of amazing.

(I kind of really like this last one for some reason...kid's got spunk.)

we made it!

We made it, praise God.

Yesterday mornings travels were a mess.

After our initial flight was cancelled because the plane was broken we were rebooked to a later flight, then to have a longer layover in Detroit where Delta then did not know where the connector plane was...we finally touched down in the Great North.

Mama was a mess at first since the trip was planned specifically around our itinerary. Huxley, on the other hand, was an absolutely dollbaby, which he is all the time, but I was so impressed with how well he handled our Delta Distaster.

Hux slept like a rock during both flights. He was out before we even took off on our connection, which I panicked over since I was nursing him during take-off/landing to help his ears pop, so I resorted to squirting a little bit of my water from my water bottle into his mouth which triggered him to start swallowing/nursing again.

You learn as you go, eh?

Huxley & I have been enjoying Grandma & Grandpa very much, and he got to meet two of his cousins yesterday and his Great Grammi Nonny too! Huxley has so many other family members to meet still!

It's going to be a whirl-wind the next few days to I apologize if I don't get to posting, but hey, we are on vacay afterall.

(We were pretty bushed and really missed Daddy.)

leaving on a jet plane!

Our bags aren't all packed, but we're ready to go!

We went to Baby Yoga this morning to get energized, centered, and stretched for our big adventure!! I can't believe this time tomorrow we will be back in the Great North! My Mom said to "Pack for March." Blech. March. I'd prefer January when there's some pretty snow, and plenty to do with it. March is just ick. Ahwell, we're stoked regardless and Huxley still has a lot of winterish clothes that haven't even been touched!

Thanks to my lovely friend Kristen who is swinging by later I will be able to knock out the final to-do's on our list, and finish packing our giiiiiiant suitcase while she entertains the little mister.

i stopped reading the books.

..I stopped reading books period.

Show me the Mama that has time for books, I dare you.

With all of Huxley's latest accomplishments I have been meaning to read on how normal it is for a 15 week old to be teething, trying to sit up, rolling over, blowing raspberries, etc etc etc. Seems like everyone is all agasp with his new tricks.

But for now, I'm contented in my Mama-theory: if they're loved & happy, have a fully belly, a dry bum, and a snuggly nook to call home, then all's counted success.

& this is what that looks like:

ps: Happy May, yall. May is a good month. We like May.
